Robinhood is expanding its cryptocurrency service to UK customers and integrating cryptocurrency trading into the same app that allows users to manage Stocks & Shares ISAs and trade stocks, options, and futures.

With this move, customers of Robinhood’s UK launch can now access over 50 cryptocurrencies, including Hyperliquid [HYPE], Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], and Ripple [XRP]. The underlying crypto infrastructure is provided by Bitstamp UK Ltd., which Robinhood purchased in 2025.

How will this help improve cryptocurrency trading in the UK?

Here, the unique selling point (USP) is that there are no trading fees. Robinhood claims that the new cryptocurrency service will not charge trading, account-maintenance, or custody fees to qualified UK customers. However, “zero fees” does not always imply that trading is totally free in every way.

For instance, the price at which cryptocurrency is purchased or sold, any spread, and other relevant expenses should still be considered by investors. In other words, compared to platforms that mainly rely on wider spreads, Robinhood’s pricing will be more transparent and less expensive.

Remarking on the same, Jordan Sinclair, President of Robinhood U.K. Ltd. and GM of Bitstamp UK Ltd., said,

A new wave of UK investors sees digital assets as an important part of a diversified portfolio. With today’s launch, we’re taking another major step toward becoming the all-in-one investment platform for the UK.

Ongoing challenges surrounding Robinhood

Additionally, Robinhood is also launching Cortex Digests for Crypto, an AI-powered tool that uses technical indicators, market data, and breaking news to provide plain English explanations of cryptocurrency price movements. It is not intended to forecast future prices but rather to give market context.

The launch is a part of Robinhood’s larger crypto strategy, which also includes its Layer 2 blockchain, Robinhood Chain, which is based on Arbitrum. Since going live worldwide on the 1st of July, the network has reportedly generated over $18 billion in DEX trading volume and over $840 million in TVL.

The expansion also coincides with pressure on Robinhood’s cryptocurrency revenue. In Q2, the company made roughly $100 million from cryptocurrency transactions, which was 38% less than the previous year.

What’s more?

This followed Robinhood’s 31st July FCA registration, which enabled it to provide qualified crypto services under the existing anti-money laundering framework.

While it will require separate authorization under the new regulations, the registration gives Robinhood a head start ahead of the UK’s new crypto regime in October 2027.

At the same time, Australia is strengthening its control over cryptocurrency ATMs. In fact, due to persistent AML compliance issues, AUSTRAC suspended Cryptolink’s Bitcoin ATM operations for three months.

Final Summary

  • With this move, crypto users in the UK can now access over 50 cryptocurrencies, including HYPE, BTC, ETH, and XRP.
  • Besides this, Robinhood is also launching Cortex Digests for Crypto to provide users with in-depth market context.
